Planning a Surprise Party: Choosing the Perfect Location

Planning a surprise party to celebrate someone's special occasion can be exciting, fun and a great way to show them how much you care. Surprise parties can be thrown for just about any special event but are most often thrown for milestone birthdays or anniversaries, graduations and retirements. Planning a perfect surprise party takes time and some careful, sneaky planning. Here are some tips to help you out.

There are numerous details you will need to see to including setting a date, keeping the party a secret and getting your guest of honor to the party. You will also need to decide who to invite and where to hold the party.

To set the date you will need to find a day that you are certain you guest
of honor can attend. To do this, confer with others who are close to him/her for example a spouse, best friend, parent, etc. It is also a good idea to make sure that the date you choose works for others who are close to him/her and will want to be there.

After a date is set you will need to start planning the party. First set a budget, develop a guest list and determine what kind of entertainment there will be. You will also need to decide on a venue for the party. Will you host a small intimate event at someone's home, have a lively dinner in a local restaurant or will you go all out and invite enough guests to need a NY event venue.

If you decide to hold the event at an event venue, you will need to take the time to find the perfect one. Ask around for referrals, call a few places and then be sure to visit your 2-3 top picks before booking. You will want to check out the venue to make certain the location provides the perfect atmosphere for your event as well as all the services you will need. When visiting make sure there is enough space for your party, check out the d'cor and get a sampling of the food that will be served. Never sign an agreement until you are completely comfortable with the location and have read the fine print on the contract.

After a NY event venue has been selected you will need to invite the guests and plan the rest of the details. In inviting the guests it is often best to not leave a paper trail. If possible a great way to invite others is by phone or in person. No matter how you invite guests you will need to let them know it is a surprise, and swear them to secrecy. Make sure you have your guests arrive for the occasion 30-60 minutes before the guest of honor.

Finally, you will need a plan to get your guest of honor to their party. Make sure you have someone make concrete plans with them so that they do not plan something else at the time of their party. Ideas are a special dinner or an outing with friends. Once you get them to their party yell surprise and enjoy the event.
